Postoperative laxity of the lateral soft tissue is largely negligible in total knee arthroplasty for varus osteoarthritis

چکیده

Purpose: To evaluate the integrity of lateral soft tissue in varus osteoarthritis knee by comparing mechanical axis under stress during navigation-assisted total arthroplasty before and after compensating for a bone defect with implant. Methods: Sixty-six knees that underwent were investigated. The operated was evaluated manual immediately exposure implantation. correlation between each value degree preoperative deformity compared regression analysis. Results: maximum increased proportion to deformity. Moreover, implantation Therefore, severity leads progressive laxity tissue. However, coefficients much smaller than those measured (0.99 vs 0.20). Based on results formula, postoperative negligible, provided an appropriate thickness implant compensated cartilage medial compartment without changing joint line. Conclusion: even if is severe, most cases may not require additional procedures address residual laxity.

Soft-tissue balancing during total knee arthroplasty in the varus knee.

Soft-tissue balancing during total knee arthroplasty is an important step in optimizing the mechanical balance of the knee joint. Soft-tissue contractures that result from varus coronal plane deformity can pose a difficult problem, and the surgeon should have a standard procedure for managing such situations in the operating room. Balance may be assessed intraoperatively with the use of spacer ...

Radiologic Assessment of Distal Femur Cutting Angle in Varus Knee Candidates for Total Knee Arthroplasty

Background: In a total knee arthroplasty surgery the goal is to produce 90 degree angle between the knee articular lobe and the mechanical femoral line. Most orthopedic surgeons usually utilize a 5 to 7 degree for distal femoral cutting angle. In this study we will aim at clearing this question, that whether the” five-seven degree” distal femoral cutting angle supposed to be an equable spectrum...

Soft Tissue Balance in Total Knee Arthroplasty

The primary goal of total knee arthroplasties (TKAs) is the achievement of stable tibiofemoral and patellofemoral (PF) joints, which relies on accurately aligning these joint components and balancing the soft tissues. In order to achieve these criteria, it is important to utilize appropriate surgical techniques and well-designed implants [1-3]. To this end, using the more traditional intraand e...

Soft tissue balancing in total knee arthroplasty.

A good outcome in total knee arthroplasty depends on many factors: joint alignment, range of motion, patellar tracking and ligament stability. A correct soft tissue balance keeps the joint aligned in flexion and extension, and therefore constitutes the most important factor for durability of the implant. Indeed, incorrect soft tissue balancing is the primary cause of early implant failure neces...

Imaging the implant-soft tissue interactions in total knee arthroplasty

BACKGROUND In Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), residual pain may be secondary to soft tissue impingements, which are difficult to visualize around chromium-cobalt implants using medical imaging, so their interactions remain poorly understood. The goal of this work was to establish a protocol for in-vitro imaging of the soft tissues around TKA, usable during throughout the range of motion (ROM). ...
